hello!
i’m a freelance photographer from midcoast maine. my work finds itself fluctuating along a spectrum of documentary to fine art, with a focus on environmental portraiture. photography & storytelling are my passions, whether it’s family, friends, or strangers i believe the camera can help foster a collaborative space where we can learn from one another.
i grew up into the era of digital, but my heart lives in the analog world. in the fast paced environment that we live in, film helps slow things down and urges us to be more intentional.
being a recent graduate from hampshire college, i’m now in a stage of transition; working out my place in the vast world of photography. moving forward i plan to continue to use my work as a platform to share people’s stories, especially highlighting voices and communities who frequently go unheard.
my name is alaric beal (he/him)
